October Is National Bullying Prevention Month - We All Want To Be ACCEPTED In This Judgemental World
National Bullying Prevention Month - We need to be aware of what is going on around us every single day, and how are our youth surviving with the pressures of social media and peer acceptance?
During this month of awareness, this is a time to promote kindness and belonging. Bullying isn’t ‘a rite of passage” or something that all youth go through (but the numbers have risen to extreme heights in the last couple of years). We can prevent bullying when we understand and address the factors that put young people at risk. Educating yourself is the best way to move forward and be “proactive” in our communities.
Unfortunately, the end result of bullying can cause death by suicide. The weight of the abuse and rejection become so overwhelming, that there seems to be no way out, except suicide. (make the pain go away) We need to change that narrative, and it needs to happen now.
We read about countless stories of suicide because of bullying every single day, and the ages are dropping to as low as 8 years old. Imagine being that young and feeling like your life is over! Horrible reality in our world right now.
WAKE UP
Bullying happens every single day. The Young, The Old - in the workplace, home environment and school, (even in our churches) it is happening every where. We must look at the bigger picture and understand, “Why does the bully decide to go down this path”? We are all looking for acceptance at the end of the day, and how do we get there in a positive light?
Being accepted!
We all want to fit in. How can that happen when there are so many judgments placed upon us. It starts out at the beginning. Think back to when you were in school, what do all kids want? Even the “cool” kids want that same feeling of belonging. As they maneuver their way through life, walking those halls of shame, how do they claim victory? It is at the sacrifice of others or do they stand? Think about society today, and all of the pressures placed upon the young and older(notice I said older) because all generations are being affected by this shift of life. The social media bantering at us from all angles. How are our youth supposed to survive the maddness when there are no “turn off buttons”. There is no brain break from the static!
At the end of the day, we all want to be accepted, but the reality is all are not!
How we treat others plays a huge role in the outcome of countless situations. How we perceive ourselves as “good humans”, can change the whole narrative!
Food for thought!

This is a powerful writing connecting to those deep feelings of our youth. This story plays out with many twists and turns.
ACCEPTED
If we don’t fit the perfect mold of society we are
Not accepted!!
A young man wide eyed – looking for acceptance… There is a new kid in town… He is looking around – Wide Eyed – scared – new surroundings, new school will they think He is cool? He is different that he is… Can he find a way to fit in?
From a safe and happy place, to the city a real rat race… He tries to find his perfect fit, trying not to get hit… How can this be, a different young man, can nobody see? How he tries to fit in, but they wont let him choose to win…
Day in day out going it alone, kids at school treat him like a fool, and of course the daily ridicule… He walks the halls in silence this different kid is he, blending into the walls for nobody to see… The pain, the sorrow, the isolation just too much to bear… How the hell did I get here? How could kids be so cruel, and try to run me out of my school? All I want is to fit; have somebody say your it…
I used to be safe, happy and accepted… Now, I am the misfit of the halls, where nobody calls… Just one kind soul is all I seek… It all feels just too dark, too bleak…
HELLO, is anybody out there? HELLO does anybody even care? All I hear back is my empty echo in this empty hall – NO ACCEPTANCE HERE… It is what I truly did fear…
Now my sorrow turns to anger, now my pain turns to rage – my mind racing through time, OK you want to play out this rhyme? How can I get them, who should I seek, who will pay - the creeps who wronged me? What about the innocent? The shy, the weak? The follower who would not even speak; so afraid he would be beat… What is the plan, the next phase of this race, who should I start to chase…
Pondering now, my thoughts wander, I think of the news - I could come in and shoot up the school… Now look at me, everyone will think I am cool!! People running, People scared – THE POWER I FEEL TO SQUISH YOU IS SURREAL!! Your all drowning in fear, how does it feel to be down there?
With a heavy heart I fall into despair, how could my horrible thoughts have brought me here? To a place I do not want to be, trying to be somebody that is not Me! Hurt them, hurt me is this how life has to be? This is not what GOD intended… This is not going to be MY unhappy ending… Looking deep into my heart, searching for the soul that is he… Now I am flying set free…
I look in the mirror and whom do I see? A young man loved and
Accepted “It is ME”…
