The Unspoken Truth A Memoir - Four Years Ago Today My Story Was Released! Life Has Been Forever Changed
Today marks a big milestone for me. Four years ago today my book was released and my “unspoken truths” came to light once and for all!
What many people do not know is that the journey to get here was a serious battle of :
Facing the Past
Learning how to let go
Finding forgiveness & seeing the perspective of my abusers
Working towards being “Mentally Strong”
Finding hope and faith in the rubble of my dysfunctional past
Learning how to love myself once again
Gaining my voice!
HEALING
Finding FREEDOM
This was a painstaking journey that had to be taken in order to save my own life. I was being swallowed up by my past every single day, feeling like there was no way out.
I am standing here stronger than ever because of that journey, and my message to anyone who is struggling silently:
There is hope, there is a way out, keep pushing forward because it is time to gain your voice!! It is time for you to heal and be free!!! You deserve better - You are worth it!
Lets step forward together and break the silence. My story is one of countless stories out there that shows what abuse looks and feels like. If you decided to read my story prepare yourself for the “reality” of child abuse & sexual abuse because I do not hold back. I am raw, real and graphic at times. I wanted the reader to truly understand the mindset of a child damaged by dysfunction and abuse. What does trauma really do to children and young adults? Think about that questions before you open my book.
To all the “naysayers” out there, that bashed my story for the way it was written (through the eyes of a child), I stand and face each and every one of you with courage and a smile, because in the four years that my book has been published, I have not had a non-selling month yet! This is a huge accomplishment for a first time author. It is not about the money (because I am certainly not getting rich), it is about my story, my voice and what I can offer the world.
Through my words - I am offering hope, healing and freedom. All you have to do is take that courageous step — Break the Silence
Moving forward - I will continue to advocate for child safety & mental health illness/stigmas. My work as the Massachusetts National Ambassador for NAASCA is extremely important to me as our adult survivors need a shining light. I am continuing to push my story out there through social media, podcasts, TV & Radio. Now I will continue to finish writing book two “The Book of Joann” — We all have a story and my mother always wanted hers to be told. I am honoring her wish. Mental Illness stole so much from her and that battle to survive was one difficult road to travel. I know because I traveled that road along side of her, supporting her every step of the way.
Life experience gives us wisdom…
Embrace The Journey,
God Bless
