Lisa shared with us her authentic, truthful, and raw look at child abuse, maternal mental illness, alcoholism and her family’s response to grieving the loss of a child. In the blink of an eye, we hear how it all changed before Lisa’s “pretty baby blues” and life became an unlivable, abusive, nightmare. The grim reality of a mentally ill mother and a dying brother turned her childhood into a fight for daily survival. Lisa shares her story of going from a little girl, safely tucked warm and safe in her bed with a loving family to protect her to being all alone with a raging mentally ill mother. Currently, Karney and the non-profit 501(c)(3) ROAR As One™ is working on education and research, with Congress to eliminate all statutes of limitations for survivors of child sexual abuse.
